Question 7

I have learnt a number of things as the project has progressed from the preliminary task to the full product. Initially I attempted to finish some of my early work too quickly and the front cover of my student magazine was very basic with a full bleed photograph.

When I came to create my music magazine I created borders which enabled me to use the chosen image without stretching it and becoming pixelated. My time management improved dramatically and this time I recorded work in a blog post so I can keep on track and show others my progression. In my view my editing improved as I was allocating time for it and my use of the programmes became better the more time I spent with them.

I kept to the time management plan I created at the outset and it was also beneficial to use a tripod with my SLR this time round.

Evaluation Q 3: What kind of media institution
might distribute your media product and why?

As my media product is a magazine sold through newsagents and other retail outlets it is important it is eye catching and appeals to the casual browser. It could be produced  independently or through a large publishing group like IPC Media and wholesaled through distributors like Smiths News who supply all newsagents and shops within the West Midlands.

If I wanted to remain independent I could use a group called Plastic Media, they are a new publishing group who have been know to publish 'Indy' style magazines which Singer Song Writer is a sub genre to.

It is a lot easier to use a publishing company like IPC Media to get your magazine started. If I was to chose a process I would do it independently and use different advertising techniques and possibly launching on the web first and monitor the response gaining popularity before launching in print. This is also a more modern way as print magazines are slowly going out of fashion.
